If you’re one of the many people in Carbis Bay, Lelant or St Ives East who votes by post, you’ll be making your decision before most people even step into the polling station. And I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself — or remind you, if we’ve already met on the doorstep.
Hello, I’m Johnnie Wells
I live in Lelant, I work in St Ives, and I care deeply about this community because I’m part of it. I’ve raised my family here. I deal with the same problems you do — the traffic, the parking, the housing pressure, the strain on local services.
That’s exactly why I’m standing to be your Cornwall Councillor.
I’m not just making promises — I’ve already been getting things done. As a member of the town council since 2020 we have:
- Secured a devolution deal for 48 assets to be anded back to St Ives — including Richmond Park for which we have a regeneration scheme already funded and in place.
- Chair the local Transport Group, working on real plans to tackle traffic and parking.
- Improve how the council communicates with residents, so you’re not left in the dark.
- Push for a stronger police presence to tackle growing antisocial behaviour.
Why It Matters
You will have had leaflets making bold claims — some without context, and some from candidates who don’t even live in our parish. But I do. I know what’s already happening, what’s needed next, and how the system works — because I’m already in it, working for you.
This isn’t about slogans. It’s about action, understanding, and most importantly local knowledge.
When Your Postal Vote Arrives…
I hope you’ll take a moment to think about who you want representing you at Cornwall Council.
If you want someone who’s:
- From here
- Working here
- Already getting things done here
…then I’d be proud to have your support.
Thank you,
Johnnie Wells
